PAN stands for Permanent Account Number, which is the unique 10-character alphanumeric code, for eg. AAAAA0000A, given to individuals, HUF, and business-firms in India and abroad.
NSDL and UTI issue the PAN card on the behalf of the Income Tax (IT) department under the supervision of CBDT. Any person, HUF, and all kind of business entities can apply for the PAN card and it is mandatory for the persons who earn taxable income and are required to pay Income Tax.

Procedure for PAN Application
• Online application of PAN can be made on the NSDL website OR UTIITSL website.
• Submit the PAN card application Form 49A available on the NSDL.
• Payment of application fee can be made through credit/debit card, demand draft, or net-banking.
• Once the application and payment are accepted, the applicant is required to send the supporting documents through courier/post to NSDL.
• Upon the receipt of documents, the PAN application is processed by NSDL, and PAN is issued.

Usually, MCA approves the forms within 4-5 days once filed and issues Incorporation Certificate with CIN. PAN & TAN are allotted alongside. You may then proceed to open your Company Bank Account.
